Went out to do my second planting of sweet corn this am. Saw thatrow numbe two was missing a lot of plants. So I went only 15 feet and then went to check the seeds. Sure enough about 1/2 of them were on top os the furrow.
Is tha a cling wheel problem or an opener prob;em. I got a helprt to stand on the unit to finish the job and then it planted OK.

Could be a broken seed tube that hasn't broke clear off and opens in the break to dump seed on top or the bottom hook broke off of the tube and lets it tip back.

Maybe old will chime in ! Sorry.... by chance is one of the press wheels locked up? They will drag seed up if not turning and like the other person said seed tube problems.

If it was leaving seed on top. Then somebody stands on the row, would that not be a down pressure problem? Not a deere planter guy. got IH and white planters.

CHecked seed tube and closing wheel free and turning easily. Going to throww a bag of dent seed corn in the fertilizer box and add a heavier downspring.
