I had been posting a long while ago about a Woods brush cutter I had bought that needed some work. It go a new blade holder and blades. Tried it out today and boy does it cut nice ! I have around 500 into it and am impressed. Seems to use less power at 6 foot than my old 5 footer ! Thanks to everyone again who answered my questions when I was working on it !

I especially like a Woods brush cutter. I have two six foot models. One I bought new; it is a 72 Brush bull and the other one is older but the blades do not interchange. Two features I like about a Woods; the blades are easier to change as you only need a 3/4 inch wrench and there seems to be more room between the blades and the deck, and I believe it pulls easier than many five foot makes

Yes sir ! Mine is a brush bull 72. 3pt hitch. Seems to take half the power my old one did. Old one was an International Machinery Corp. 5 footer. Used to have to run tractor wide open with that one and it still worked the tractor. And it was sharp and set up right. New one is bigger and cuts at half throttle without working the tractor !

I replaced an IMC HD 6' cutter with a Woods BB720X.

The Woods has much more grass clearance than did the IMC allowing it to clear better. It is also considerably heavier and much more expensive.

The increased grass clearance allows higher ground speed in heavy cover.

I recently replaced a Woods BB840X HD 7' cutter with a Woods BW 15.50, 15' BW. The BW actually cuts better than did the 7' but I'm still sorting it out. It's a different animal.

I once owned a Woods MDS1260 HD mounted 10 1/2' cutter but was not fond of it and sold it a couple of years ago with less than 50 hours on it.

FWIW: Two of the 4 Woods rotary cutters that I have bought new were delivered with incorrect gear boxes resulting in reverse rotation of at least one blade.

I have an older Cadet 72 Woods mower that Dad bought new in the '60s. He replaced the blades a few times over the years before I got it. I left the blades go too long before I replaced them, and man o man what an improvement. It cut better, and needed less power to run it. I was ashamed of how bad I had let the blades get. But they are as easy as they come when it comes to blade replacement. Mark.
