What does or should it cost to get a CAV pump rebuilt? Any thoughts on were to have done?

All depends on what it needs, most I can repair, test, and return for 350-450 range. If the hydraulic head and/or cam ring, shoes and rollers are bad, THEN it gets expensive. The early Oliver 2598 and 3680 pumps used a small quill shaft drive that was prone to break, there was an update to install the later uprate drive pumps some dealers installed that required engine parts to be replaced also for the larger pump drive.
