Ford 5000 pto drive shaft removal question

I'm replacing the clutch and see the pto to flywheel shaft splines are razor thin. How does a guy go about replacing the shaft? Any advice would be appreciated!
 
If you have the top cover off you may want to add this kind of a fix as well. Friends 5000 had a bad pto clutch and I found that the aluminum part that went over the PTO hub to deliver the hydraulic pressure for the clutch piston, would drift to the back. So I welded up a bracket that would bolt to the back bearing cover to hold it forward. Yours may not need this. Just thought I would throw it out there for you.
