After several hours of hard work we took 2 New Holland tedder- rakes and made one good one. Thought we had it fixed and while tedding found another issue. But we stole more parts off the other one and everything is working great. Sure does a nice job! What a fluffy windrow!

Those storm clouds rolled in and soaked the hay field about 30 minutes after we got done!

Lightning bolt on the 280 is pointing at it. We were the blue dot heading to the delivery.
 
Hi Grandpa, I sold a lot of these NH tedders here in the UK in the 1970s. They were built stronger than the other tedders on the market at the same time. MJ.
 
MJ it's heavy! Maybe 900+ lbs? We like the fact it's easy to swap to rake mode. Leaving one piece of equipment home!
 

Glad you got the hay up before the rain

Tedder/rake isn't for me but they are a good piece of equipment/ just keep a eye on the cam rollers, if one fails you can trash the machine in a hurry.
 
Hey , that’s a great story and nice pictures too. It took you a few dollars and some time, but you now have an excellent piece of hay equipment. From your experience repairing this machine, you can understand why people claim that they are no good, but to the contrary. These rake tedder s do an excellent job, but they require regular attention. And people just aren’t willing to give the lowly hay rake the kind of attention, and regular lubrications g that they would lavish on a baler. Enjoy your rake ! I think you got a good piece, at a reasonable price
