Problem with gel 1860 baler

A baler listed for sale looks good and is priced right. Add says they were baling and something broke and the chamber couldn't expand and it broke some of the belts. Any ideas on what the problem is? If I can fix it the price is worth some work.

Hi Jon, without seeing it, would guess that it could be a broken roller or a brg out in a roller any of those could brake some belts. I had that same problem last fall with my NH BR740A. There is a guy just east of Glencoe that has salvaged balers I found him on CL last fall for my parts. Bob

My opinion, stay away. We used to have a 1475. I believe it was a series or 2 newer and the smaller 4x5 model. It was a nightmare getting a bale to start rolling and the belts were constantly tearing up. Others may disagree and that's ok.

May have a broken shaft my Case IH 8465 broke what they call the powered reinker bar(essentially a powered belt guide) that stopped everything from turning and ruined a belt the Gehl’s might have something similar. Not bad to replace on parte or the work involved.

One of Hesstons brighter ideas the early ones didn’t have that and the later ones didn’t it either it was a mid production way to make it even more complicated than it should be my 560 has the same thing and the shaft bent 400$ for a new one it’s an octagon shaft
