IH 504 Oil Pressure

Hi all,

I've been brush hogging with my international 504 lately, and the first time i did it, about halfway through the oil pressure dropped from the normal 55 PSI to about 20 PSI. I changed the oil and filter and that worked until i brushogged again today. I got about 15 min. into mowing and the oil pressure dropped again. I have not cleaned the screens or dropped the pan. Im just hoping that the pump isnt going out. Any ideas?

# things. It is really hot there is it not? are you cleaning the radiator of mowing chaff and seeds? are you using 15-40 diesel oil in it?
The oil pump may hav a warped cover/pickup plate or worn cover. Flat sand it to fix. The gaskets are paper thin, and used for setting clearance. Measured with plastigauge, it should be .001" .0008 is real good. Jim

Its a gas engine so i run 30w in it as sepc'd in the manual. As for overheating, ill have to look into whether its warped as you say it could be.
 
Ignore the 30 wt oil it was specified when it was the best. it is nolonger the best. Run the 15-40 and be happy. Do check the pump cover. Jim
