Good thinking and nice work!

I had a good friend (now deceased) who could not work the tractor foot clutch because of stroke related problems in his left leg. Believe it or not - he got real good at pushing the clutch in with his walking cane. I've ran hand clutch Deeres my entire life, but there was never a danger of the lever slipping off and unexpectedly popping the clutch. He made me nervous with it, but he never had a mis-hap. His kids wanted him off of the tractor, so any outside help or encouragement was not welcome. He was as independent as a hog on ice, and struggled on when most of us would have given up.

Physical therapist just left the house after working with my wife and her new knee.
She said she was working with a farmer who was afraid he could not push his tractor clutch in and I told her about this.
Gonna show this to her Monday.
Thank you for posting.

Great idea....I like it without a doubt...... But was wondering if it might be easier on the back muscles if you leaned the long handle back some more?Just looking out for you so you don't have to lean forward so much. Depending on what I'm doing, I sometimes use the clutch a lot.

If I was going to do something like that I would have left he foot pedal there ad just added the hand part so you could use both foot and hand at he same time if you wanted

e did.

I have never driven a tractor with a hand clutch so this might be a silly question but I was just wondering when you press the clutch with one hand and the shifter with the other hand you have no hands on the steering wheel. What if you hit a rock or a stump with one of the front wheels?

Most old tractor one is suppose to come to a full stop before shifting into another gears so having ones hands off the wheel is no big deal. Shifting on the fly is a good way to tear out a transmission

I had my left knee replace first of May last year. By July I was able to
use the clutch on my 7510 Kubota and on my IHC MD. The more I worked the knee,
the better it got.

About 15 years ago I put hand controls on a new Ford/New Holland 100 + HP cab tractor for a young man that was paralysed from the waste down. I also put hand controls on Mule for him. I can see that as a reason for the hand clutch.

Last year when my left hip got worse I rigged a hand clutch on all three of my
Fords. On the 59 and 53 I welded a piece square tube on the arm to slide a pipe
handle into. On the 47 I mounted a hinge on a block at the back of the homemade
running board with a piece of 2 inch channel resting on the pedal and a socket at
the front of the channel to slip a pipe handle into.
