Got my super C running

Thanks to everyones help, I got my super C running. It was a simple job, I just replaced the points with the new parts that came in the kit I ordered. I had to charge my battery a little, but it fired right up and seemed to run pretty well.

I noticed it seemed to bog down a little when in higher RPM, but that only happened once and I drove it around a little and it did not have any problems.

The only thing I noticed with the actual points assembly is that the two points are not perfectly lined up when they close. I tried to adjust the points so they line up perfectly when they touch, but they just will not line up because the one point fits into a machined groove so it cannot twist or move at all.

I used my calipers and a metal shim to set the gap to 0.020 inches. Like I said, the tractor runs pretty well now, and except for the bogged down feeling that ONE time, it seems as good as ever.

The 'bogging down' part may be fuel starvation.Open the load screw a bit. See if that helps. If you see black smoke, close it till the black disappears.Good luck and happy tractoring.

With most of those points being made offshore now, I suspect the points lining up like one might expect doesn't happen all that often anymore.

If the points are from the land of almost right you can't expect them to line up perfect! Should not have any effect on running.
Like someone else said open up the high speed needle a little, if that doesn't fix it do a fuel flow test.

Thanks for the update. About 1/2 of the time we work toward fixing an issue, and never find out
what fixed the problem. It is like having one disease, 8 doctors, 5 treatments, and the patient
disappears into oblivion. Which means the issue went away, ended in a fence row, or the scrap yard.
Figuring out what worked also indicates how to analyze the symptoms, and everyone gains. Thanks.

My points seem to need polished up after sitting. Come spring I keep a bit of sand paper in my wallet. You may have the same problem next year. If the contacts aren't burned I would just polish the residue off and run a clean bill through them. I like to use a little brake cleaner to if it's close.
