Skid steers brands

I am considering getting a used skid steer. I have driven bobcat, case and kubota.
I like how bobcat and case both operate with handles like a zero turn.

I don't like kubota being a joystick
The joystick doesn't give me the full control like to have.

My question was what other machines operate similar to a zero turn mower and bobcat and case?

I am just trying to figure out what brand to go with that's not joystick controlled. I like individual handles for each side

Thanks

I feel most Bobcats are goofy in their weight distribution, perhaps not used to them. I happen to prefer New Holland. I've an older John Deere (back in the late 90's when NH made the machine) JD 6675, same as the NH 565or 665, and am very happy with it. A 50 hp that will pick up around 1700#. Mine is a 2000 model year and the only parts ever purchased were 1 fuel pump and 1 fuel shutoff solenoid. I've got a small grass fed Devon beef herd so my skidder sees hay duty, daily year round. It starts flawlessly down into the teens, but I try and plug it in for temps in the 20s or lower. Just easier on things. It will only run on #1 when get into that -20 to -40 range, no blends. Found that out over the years. A good, simple reliable machine w/o all the bells and whistles that tend you keep you broke. Larry

I have run Kubota's with the joy stick and I wont even think of anything else. about as smooth and fast and exact as a person would want. handles is old school. but each to his own.

Like someone else said New Holland. We have 10 or 12 currently at work. They vet used hard and seem to hold up well. Also like oldproudvet we have a Jd 6675 at the farm. It also has been mostly trouble free.

I have a 1990 Bobcat 743B (40hp, 1300lbs lift), not as big, and strong as I'd like to have, but it does use the 2 levers to steer, and foot pedals for loader. Parts are still available from Bobcat, other brands that work the same way the parts may not be as available.

I am like you rusted , the industry sure like short stick or joy stick that is the way everyone is going. I do not understand his statement that he likes control, seems to me the KUBOTA is the ultimate in control, very smooth for sure

Kubota offers a choice.

I believe NH does as well, as does Case.

John Deere did, but no longer does. Joystick only.

I believe Gehl is now joystick only???

We were shopping in Feb, so I think my post is halfway accurate.

The kubota we use at work has less than 1500 hours. The engine has been replaced by factory recall the def system was under recall the dealer fixed the recall and within 4 hours of operating time the engine went out. From my experience the joystick doesn't give me the ability to control it. If the joystick is such a wonderful thing why does my scag lawnmower and others mowers also are 2 handles?

7-8 years ago my cousin showed me his newest. He was New Holland everything. It impressed me as being big. He told me how much more load capacity it had, but it also just appeared wide and long, yet it was still very nimble scraping the alleyways. Are the NHs bigger?

The joystick types can be converted to drive like a zero turn, with your left wheels on the left forward-back function and the right wheels on the right forward-back function. It's usually a switch or a setting on the menu.

We have a LS180 New Holland. It's been a pretty good machine. Has around 4k hours on it. Ideally if I could get a new one I'd like to try a JCB teleskid. I like the one arm design and the ease of getting in and out of the cab. I've ran other brands with joystick and lever controls. I'm not very good on a joystick model but I would say its just because I don't have very much time running one. It's all what you are use to.

anything in the newer units you can simply program from joystick to two handle steer. foot control is the only thing that would be different for the boom and bucket. otherwise it will all be in the handles and can be programed to pilot or to two lever steer. I been running new Holland unit since 2018. run all bobcat stuff till this era. at this typing this unit will be for sale probably as going to trade for another brand new unit .
