Shows/pulls

I made a show and pull in mid-Jan. and a show the first weekend of March. Since then everything has been cancelled. The hometown
celebration with a parade and show the last weekend of July has been cancelled. Next opportunity is the big show in Temple the
first weekend of Oct. Then a Hill Country Ride and a Czech heritage Fest and show follow in Oct. Finally our plow day is in mid
Nov. I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

I'm on the board of directors for a large antique tractor show in Southern Illinois our show is scheduled for the third weekend in August and as of now it's still on. We're trying not to cancel unless we absolutely have to.

I'm on the board of our local club and we're still holding out hope that the Goessel Threshing Days in Goessel, KS can happen July 31 - Aug 2. We figure we'll do what ever the local county fairs do in our area which are in the middle of July. If the fairs can happen more-or-less as normal then our show will happen, probably with at least some minor changes to accommodate the situation we're in. However, if they cancel their in-person activities we are not very eager to assume the liability of going against the status quo by putting on our show. Right now I'd say things are fifty-fifty on whether these events will happen.

At our show we have a large parade through town. The American Farm Heritage Museum just across the road from where we have our show usually does host a tractor drive. I'm unsure of the dates for that. Our show is the American Threshermans Association, Pinckneyville Illinois. You can do a Google search and find us for more info

We were in town and happened across the old car collector car parade.

The old car folk are bored too, they put together a parade they gather at a large abandoned Target parking lot, parade past the nursing homes in town, then past the nursing homes in the next town, and then in the third town over. These are towns of 14,000, 4,000, and 2,000 or so population. Small town stuff.

They have worked with the local authorities and emphasized the helping entertain the old folks and they try to not make it a close knit gathering, I think the sign in parking lot area might get a little close maybe, but otherwise they are just cruising in their cars down the street or highway.

It was something to see, was about 100 cars must have went by. They all looked happy, we got to see something.

Better than nothing.

Not sure the governor would approve, but the local folk seem happy with how it?s going. Think this was their 2nd or third run this spring.

Don?t know if a tractor parade could be organized. One would need to be with the local authorities from the start, and really practice and preach the distance thing to everyone or I would bet it would get shut down pretty quick.

The car guys around Meeker/Stearns are cruising 1-2 days a week. They try to hit the small town dives for take out on Friday and Saturday. Talked to one fella and he says they range from 20 to 150 participant and are having a blast doing it.

Its going to be a very boring summer if we are not going to have any tractor shows or pulls. I hope our politicians are enjoying this because the fallout economically is going to rival 1929. First self-inflicted depression I have known.

Seems the best thing to do with shows is be able to have them and those that want to come can come and those that think its the best thing to do is stay home just stay home.outside in hot weather very little chance of catching anything.
