I had a U joint fail on my PTO shaft and it came apart. One ear of the coupling is bent about 1/8 inch. If I heat this and put something inside to act as a pusher can it be straighted. The new U joint will only go in flush on one side of the yoke.

I did that once on FIL nearly new Woods 60. Turned too sharp not knowing about shaft angle limits in my younger days. One ear bent and the cross popped out. I machined a pin to put through both ears and went to work with the torch and hammer. Finished up with a round file. It's still running.

Thanks that is what I was going to try tomorrow. Worked half a day trying to the u joint in today and finialy my back got so tired I quit

(quoted from post at 23:08:43 05/20/20) Got one to do in the morning ,,. Gonna hammer it back Cold ..it got bent cold , i think it should be straightened cold , correct me if need be ,,.
'm no metallurgist, and I've never played one on tv, but I disagree with your logic.

I heated it up this morning and it bent right back to where it needed to be. I had to bend it about 1/8 inch. Put it back on tractor and had to see if it still worked works great so far
