Got the generator apart

Got it apart this morning and ordered new bearings, races and
seals, be here tomorrow. I had to make a puller and weld it on
the sleeve to get it off. Cut the puller off with the 4? grinder
and smoothed it up so the bearing will slide on okay. There is
no set screw on the sleeve for the key. The main shaft
through the generator turns easy and smooth, so I don?t think
there is any problem there. The 4 broken 5/16 bolts came out
easy with a left hand drill bit. The only thing I can see is that
the 4 bolts broke and let the gearbox drop down. I?ll see if I
can remember how everything goes and put it back together.
Will it hurt anything to hook it to the tractor and spin it without
the electric hooked up to anything? Thanks, Chris

Looks like it was quite a challenge, but ya "got er done". I'll bet it'll work like a charm. Hope you never have to use it, but it'll be around if you do.

It came fairly easy, I was afraid I might have to heat it, but after it first moved, I used a ratchet and cranked it off.

The generator is 540 pto rpm. I found a manual online and saved it.There are 3 lights on it and it says to increase speed until the middle green light comes on. Can I run it for a few minutes without electrical hooked to anything?? The bearing were supposed to be here today, but they never called and said to come and get them, maybe tomorrow.
