Massey fe35 alternator conversion.

I?m looking at doing a alternator conversion on a fe35 with a standard 23c that I?m rebuilding. I?m thinking of going with a 10si. Lots of information about the gas engine conversions but dosnt seem to be many about the 23c. The only problem With the swap I think I?m having is how to excite it. My ignition switch is 3 position (off/heat/start)
So would I be better off switching to a 4 position ignition switch with a run position to switch power to the alternator or would adding a oil pressure switch in be wise? And some stuff I?m reading mentions the need of a diode. Is this something I for sure would need? Thanks.

The two pole closedwith 5 psi (or so) pressure switch is available at NAPA or other places like Auto Value. It needs to be "T"ed into the oil gallery where the pressure sender/line attaches. Run 12 v from the Battery connection of the key, to the new switch, then from the switch to the #1 terminal. No need for a diode or light, or anything else. The #2 terminal attaches with a short 6" wire to the big output terminal on the alternator. Jim

Or pay a little extra, get a "one wire" model, nothing else to connect, just the main charge wire.

You may need to find a small pulley though, they like to be spun up pretty fast to start charging.

Ordered up a pressure switch today so I?ll most likely go that route. Just gotta get the engine back together to figure out the bracket set up
