I've asked for help here many times and was never very good at posting updates or thank yous, so I'm trying to do better. A bit ago I asked for help in wiring the tail lights and trailer plug of a Med duty IH truck with the five wire set up. That being a truck wired with a separate turn wire and brake light wire going to a four wire setup with shared brake and turn wire. I had tried unsuccessfully to install two different 5 to 4 wire converters. After days of trying, I finally called my local IH truck dealer and the tech was more than willing to talk to me. The truck is a 98 4700 model. He told me if I look hard enough I would find two harnesses for rear lighting on the truck. A four wire and a five wire. It wasnt under the cab like he said but I did find it under the dash and routed it to the back with two new LED what I call "jeep" style tail lights and a new trailer plug/harness. It all turned out ok! I lost sleep trying to figure out the problem and wish I could have used the converter/adapter things-I dont like never knowing....but, to heck with those things! And its fully and correctly wired to the back now. Thanks to those who chimed in. Especially John T whom I called out specifically.
