Nearly had a BIG problem with my dump trailer

I have been hauling 6ish yard loads up from the CCC dam to divert the water coming out of the road culvert into the grass waterway at the end of the field. This past winter, we had taken off the truck axle and stuck a van trailer axle under it. We did this because the tires were two piece rims and one was going flat over the course of the day. Since we were at it, we also took off the leaf springs to lower it and moved it back to make it more stable.

I should have paid more attention. The bolts we torched off also held in the cross members. They were rocking back and forth with the load and popping out on their own. I walked past it yesterday and took a double take. It was about to fall to pieces! I drove all 24 out and replaced them with fresh bolts. New as good.

I took a load down the road to the neighbors right after I fixed it. I wonder if it would have made *just* one more trip without them...?

Pics later today.

(quoted from post at 09:21:05 05/11/20) A good pre trip inspection saves lives; equipment; and time.
Glad you caught it before serious damage was done.
