Not a lot of grass (corn) planted south western Indiana . None locally is more than 2 inches above
ground. Fortunately unlike soy plants the growing tip is still underground, likely freeze point as deep as
growing point. With seed prices so costly per unit would hate for local friends ( yes, I have some LOL) to
lose crop . Still time to replant. However with basis of corn price bring income per bushel so low replant
makes a loss per acre before corn gets a start above ground. In my younger days price per bushel number 2
corn at 1.50 was loss. With inflation of inputs now $3.50 seems lower in fact than 1.50. A large Thank
You to those still farming and hoping for more realistic prices.

There is alot planted in south central Indiana. My neighbors were getting there irrigation ready this afternoon for tomorrow morning and even put reel guns out pumping out of a buyous. My corn is only a at 2ed leaf so it should be fine, my beans do t stand a chance.

I just came in and checked looks like it is 56 deg here now but they are still saying we will see 33 deg and frost. Got a lot of 4 inch corn guess we will just have to see , we never plant beans till May 15 but about two weeks ago I was thinking this was an early spring and started thinking about beans but thankfully had better thoughts. Looks like North eastern Ky will get hit hard.

It will be damaged if growing tip is above ground, good luck, we are supposed to get in upper 20s here tonight. My corn has not come up yet.

I usually wait on beans but I had alot of ground work so I planted beans while dad planted corn. I no tilled alot of beans last weekend so thankful they are not up. I had to replant all my beans last years so not wanting to do that again. Be interesting to see of the irrigators will help.

They were calling for a freeze warning last night, checked twice got down to 34 this morning. No beans planted yet, corn is just barely V 1 growth stage.

I have seen it get down to 18 on fields of corn about 10 inches tall.
Turned yellow and came right back.
Seen that happen twice.

West central Ohio less than 1% of field work even started due to way too wet. Last year a lot of corn or bean ground were unplanted because it was too wet and this year looks to be a repeat. Last year a lot of farmers had to file prevented planting claims and it sure looks like same this year. Most farmers have wanted to be done planting corn by this date and lucky if .001% of corn has been planterd.
