One the New Idea number 7 corn picker, will the elevator let down, like some I have seen, to make it lower when hauling on my trailer?

It does not fold down per se, but it can be removed. I took mine off to replace the wood bottom in it. It's been a few years but if I remember correctly there's maybe four bolts holding it on the bottom, plus take the chain off and unhook that big rod on top. You'll want to have 2 or 3 good strong helpers!

Thanks for the info.
I think I will leave it as is and raise the front up on some timbers on the trailer and build a support about halfway up the elevator down to the trailer.
It has been years since I hauled one of these.
