Governor adjustment

Since I replaced the carb. on my 35 massey furguson the throttle either idles to slow or runs away with little control. if I barley crack the throttle the engine goes wide open. What is causing this?

You need to take the rod loose from the
carb. Then pull hand throttle wide open.
Rod from gov to carb should just fit. Carb
wide open. Sloppy meaning not binding.
Nothing rubbing. Etc. Motor off of course.

This is usually caused by the control rods being installed incorrectly. You need to have a rod from the throttle lever to the governor, and the other one from the governor to the butterfly. Sometimes the arm on the throttle shaft is installed upside down which makes the governor open the throttle butterfly when it should be closing it.

I just posted this a few days ago down on the Ferguson board, a similar model, should be the same as yours.

His turned out to be a broken governor, but possibly yours only needs adjustment.

Try the adjustment first, especially if the carb has been off or anything about the governor has been changed.

Did you find a solution? Ive got the same problem on a 8n. Started after a carb rebuild. I repacked the governor because of a warped housing and the problem persists!

Not understanding this. How is it possible to install the throttle shaft upside down?

First lesson in Instrument and Control class. " No feedback, no control".
Can not have any slop or play in the linkages. Governor spring has to have tension on it .
