Just wondering if we have anyone on here with good knowledge of arrowheads and Indian artifacts?? I find arrowheads & spearheads each year in my fields but i found something yesterday that was odd, i've attached a photo, it looks like a spearhead with additional quartz attached on the right side, each side of it is razor sharp, never seen one with white lines going across it. i first thought it was one that they never finished but it could be a tool used for something. Any help would be appreciated!!

It is a tool, not a "point" likely to hollow a groove or skin animals. Some o them were hafted to handles, but that looks like a finger scraper, or knife. Very unique. banded flint (probable material) Jim Not an archaeologist, but love the topic. Jim

That's some neat material. Definitely a tool probably a drill or awl. It may be reworked from a piece broken from use or while making something else. Thanks a lot now I'll spend most of the day tomorrow looking at the ground. Tony

That's nice! All I ever found was broken ones. My dad found this I believe it's called a wedding vase in a ditch near Corinth Mississippi years ago. I can't find anything about it either.

nnalert University in Allendale Michigan has a department that is very knowledge about this. I would try to contact them. I will try to get more contact info for you.
That is an interesting piece.

It could be a spearhead broken in use and repurposed as a knife. My fil walked a lot of ground around Indianapolis in the 70s and 80s looking for and finding a lot of artifacts so I was able to see his collection and thoroughly read dozens of amateur archeology magazines over the years, so that?s my guess. Enjoy the hunt.?

NH8260, that could have come out of a geode. Geodes are found along the IL river.

Danny, check some of the Pueblo Indian pottery from the 4 coroners area. I don't know enough to tell how old it would be. We have some from just north of Santa Fe that is modern and black bowls. They got the clay from the White River and when firing it, they added horse manure to turn the finished product black. Each tribe and area have their own special design and product. Rings and necklaces the same.
