Rich'sToys, a question

I am buying a New Idea Number 7 picker to pick small acreage of Indian corn.
I really liked your story and photo of picking with yours.
Do you happen to have an operators manual for one that could be copied?
I use to use and old Dearborn picker, but it was in terrible shape.
Thanks,
Richard in NW SC

Make sure they are the correct manual for that picker as I think all that are linked to are for an older picker. Think might be a No. 6 picker books are for. Even an older model book could be helpful but would not be completely correct. Contact the Coldwater Historical Sociato at Coldwater, Ohio as they got everything when they quit making New Idea. May or may not have manuals left but may know if the older book would be vlose enough to work or not. And should be able to tell years different models were made.

The book I have is similar to the ones I linked to, except mine says P-159. It doesn't state a specific model no. of picker, but it looks exactly like a my no. 7.

I also have this book. It covers both the one row and two row pickers:

As far as it being an older picker, the no. 7 IS an older picker. This book states that the 7 was built from 1939 to 1957, and it gives the breakdown by serial no. and lot no. My picker is a 1950 model, making it 70 years old. But it still works like a champ.

For what it's worth, I also have a 6-A 2 row picker, a 1952 model. I picked a little with it in 2018. My AGCO dealer was able to source many of the parts I needed through Parts Depot, including many of the wood pieces. That book was a Godsend for getting the correct part numbers!
