2520 and the new plow

Today I had the 2520 and the three bottom F145 plow I bought a week ago out for about 2 acres. It needs a little more adjusting. I need to either move the wheels out about 2-3 inches or move the hitch over and I should also raise the depth on the rear a little. Was plowing in 4th. It was fun as I have not had a plow hooked up for five or so years.Tom

Looking good. I like the way that plow is working. The only problem is that I don't see any stones or rocks. Where I live you would see both. Good Luck

Where I started farming we had stones and rocks. When looking for a farm to buy the local Deere dealer had a 4 bottom plow with shear bolts instead of trips. I knew I found the right place to buy a farm.LOL Tom

Too wet to do much here. MAYBE tomorrow afternoon I can chisel 7-8 acres downhill from where I chiseled last week. I need to top dress the wheat but too wet. Feeling very stressed out at the moment.

Warmth or the lack of warmth is most of the problem. Tile only does so much on the clay soil here. Gotta have the sun and 60 degrees plus during the day to dry it out. Funny thing is although winter was damp a 20 acre field of wheat on a clay flat looked pretty good 2 1/2 weeks ago. Lack of sun, damp, and cool now has that same field looking miserable. I don't remember wheat ever looking this stressed on that field in the past. I've got crop insurance but I am supposed to be building my yield base and not watching it take a hit.

Looks like you are doing a really good job. The only comment I have is that it looks like you have quite a bit of slippage by looking at the tractor track on the outside of the furrow on the unplowed ground. Maybe you need some weight on the rear wheels or maybe it is just a tad too wet???

It was a little wet. We had about 4 tenths on wed. evening. It is also a bottom that lays a little wet. You almost have to work it wet to get it to dry out. Tom

When I was in high school,I worked for a guy that had a 2520 and a #835(2x16) two bottom rollover. Thought I was in 'tall cotton'. Loved the tractor.

The seat is an A&I products Hi back seat like the 30-40 series used. You need to buy an extra bracket off a 30 series when you mount them on a 20 series. Tom

That's a nice looking rig. I worked for a farm that had two 2520s just like that. They were real nice tractors and I spent a lot of hours them cutting, raking and baling hay. They had two of all the hay equipment and me and another guy named jon ran those two tractors all summer cutting and square baling enough hay for 600 jersey cows. Lots of rounds with 9' jd haybines, new Holland rakes and balers. The only things they had that weren't jd.

Fabulous. As you may know I am a huge 2510 and 2520 and F145 plow fan. I love your step and double front weight. Paul

Regarding adjusting the plow, get yourself a manual. It will be well worth it. Ya, I see the front is plowing shallower than the back, back is likely to deep. Others may disagree, but getting the hitch setup correctly will also help with plowing level front to back. Yes, there is a stop at the back but not the whole story in my mind. Maybe Loren will chine in and comment. I have learned some plow things from him as well as my experience with F145 plows. I had five of them but sold a 14" last year.

Paul

They are a great combination. Here's a photo of one that I had. I sold the 2520 synchro and kept the 4020 Powershift and still have the plow that I use with it. My 2520 had the small hydraulic pump which is the one thing I didn't like.
