Getting rid of stuff

Since I have decided to quit disking. It was hard, I have been doing this for over 25 years. The late 30's AC Model M outlasted me.I will still do mowing. I have a couple drag disks to get rid of. I haven't used them in years, and never will. One is a 8 ft with almost new 24 inch blades blades. I asked 500.00 the other is a 8 ft, with fair blades, I said 300.00. Also 9 24 inch new blades for 300.00 Someone looked at them, and said he wants them. I guess nothing is sold until I have money in my pocket. Problem is, no one uses this stuff around here anymore. I still have my Dad's disks, I am keeping for now to use around the place. Stan

Stan,
T tried to sell this plow, in mint like conditions considering age. Everything is there. Many new parts.
I paid $400 for it. Never used it on Jubilee. Most likely never will.
Tired to sell it, No takers.
It now has a home in front of new pole barn.

So I know what you mean. No one wants old stuff.

$400 is about 2X what a good 2 bottom plow will bring in my area and then a gardener will be the only buyer.I probably have 10 moldboard plows around here haven't used any in years, chisel plow then disk or rototil.bought most of the plows for under $50 to keep them from being scraped.

I may have paid to much. That's why it will be an ornament in front of pole barn.
Someday someone may be willing to pay closer to what I paid for it.

It sounds as if you are as guilty as I am at keeping things too long, long after they have a use for us. We keep telling ourselves that some day we will use it but that day never comes and never will as we get older, less healthy, etc. I keep trying to get rid of stuff as the wife says "I don't want to get rid of your junk".

"Fresh paint can hide many many sins". Try plowing with it a while to shine up the bottoms and colters and people might be more comfortable buying a plow that they know works. $100 per bottom might be a more realistic price.

GEO your problem is its to good folks like to start out from the bottom and wish they had started with the top...

I had to buy 5 are 6 to get one nice complete plow then sold the ones I robbed parts off of to the bottom feeders...

I don't think 4 is off base for a nice one not everyone is broke...

Mine is 8' pretty heavy duty frame, 24ish diameter solid cutters, 9" spacing, 3 pt lift (which I like on my small farm over drag type of this type implement) and my 65 hp needs a bucket full of sand to keep level when in the transport position and the angle beams are welded to the main frame by design. No changing the angle. Guess the designer knew the best angle. It's green (what's left of the OEM paint) and it's like an Oliver hue, vs JD.
