Plow. What's it worth?

Ford 3pt. 4 bottom. I believe it's 4-16's. I know you can find them cheap at auctions but it's not an auction. Going to look at it tomorrow. I am told it is in nice condition. Also any idea what model it might be. About what era it is from? What's the value? Thanks in advance for your help.

2 and 3 bottom plows I've found at auctions go pretty high because people want them for gardens. 4 and 5 bottom plows are to big for gardens so they usually don't sell very well.

I can't give a value due to regional variation, but it has good looking colters, and wear parts on the bottoms. It looks to be a rigid frame plow with no spring or reset linkage, as such it would be best in clean soil with modest rocks. Nice plow Jim

I can't find my book at the moment, but the bottom mounts are similar to my Ford 130 3 bottom. I wonder if those coulters are from another make/model because mine are notched (not fluted) and do not have the spring. Nice looking plow. As others have commented, it's in no-mans land; too small for the big guys and too big for the small guys so hopefully you can buy it right.

No guarantees, but I was under the impression that Oliver made plows for Ford, those spring loaded coulters are spittin image of Oliver coulters.

If you will take four furrows you have a bit of plowing to get into, and at 4-16's that will slab over ground and plow in good conditions. I have a childhood friend down the road who has ground to cover and plows, he and his man with 8- 12's. The older plows, set at 11 inches have a quite elegant furrow. I'm not saying they are perfect but when you are plowing like a few other things, slower is better. It is an art form.

Too small for a field but too big for a garden, and too big for the average hobby guy to transport so at most auctions it is unlikely that there will be a bidder.

Ford 130 plows are constructed with 2 heavy channels welded face to face for a main frame.
Ford 140 has a square tube construction for a main frame.

What is it? A cat 3 hitch. Way too much plowe for a cat 2 hitch. I had a Ford 3-16" 3 point plow not sure of model number. Tried using it on a 5000, no good. top link set so mack bottom was in ground where supposed to be would not lift that back bottom to clear ground over an inch or too. And I could not run fast enough with that plow to roll slab over, it I had a 7000 on it I bight have been able to get enough ground speed to roll slab over, for me it just droped it back where it was. Don't know if it was supposed to be a high speed bottom but at my 5000 speeds it would not work. Did not have it very long till it went by-by and glad for that. Replaced with a Deere plow. I would say for that plow you would need at least a 9000 size Ford to pull it. And later I pulled a 4 bottom MF with that 5000. I would not atempt to pull a 4 bottom fully mounted any place no mater how big a tractor you have. Scrap price less cost to get to scrap yard.

No it is not a cat. 3 it is a cat. 2. There are many cat. 2 hitch tractors that can handle a 4 bottom fully mounted plow!
