Planting begins in the kingdom

Got started on spring work this weekend. Spent Saturday morning picking up the seed and fertilizer, took two trips to the coop. Then started with discing some corn stalks. Was a bit cold yet. Lol. My grandson Gage came up and drove for me, he started last year so he had a pretty good idea what to do, but the corn stalks was a good easy job to get started.

Had a little plowing to do but forgot to get a pic of that. The ground is much dryer and better this year compared to last year. The ditching I did helped a lot, but it's also been unusually dry this spring too.

The crew lined up and ready for work yesterday.

Working the oats ground. For anyone interested that's a 67 830 and Case SA 14' disc.

The 1030 on a Glenco cultivator, the cultivator is Jeff's. I have some really bad ruts from previous farmers and thought it would help pull them shut better. Worked pretty good.

Finished the weekend by fixing a neighbor's fertilizer auger, the flighting is stainless but the tube is steel. So the steel tube rotted out.

That's it for this weekend. Might get some rain today but weather looks good for the rest of the week. If that holds I'll plant the corn next weekend.

We got the oats planted for Junkshow. A week earlier than last yeast. After that the boy and I got some seat time with the home built landscape rake and roller healing ruts from last year?s Junkshow. The low sod was firm enough to carry and the rest moist enough to work nice. Looks like rain Thursday which might be just right.

Are you used to the change from driving to farming yet? I know you were driving locally at least before this pandemic.

Hey Jon, That 830 should have a set of duals on it for that soft ground. I have a set from my 830 that i don't use anymore I would make you a heck of a deal on, I am south of you a ways, thanks for the pictures.
