Battery Tray

I want to clean this up and paint it. I plan to spray battery cleaner on it and then wash it first. What is best to paint it with? I was thinking rust converter and then regular paint. Any better ideas? Chris

If it were me, I'd remove the rust, prime and paint, then paint it again using something like that spray-on rubber that they show on TV, or using spray plasti-dip. That would help cushion and insulate the battery bottom, and also help stop any acids from getting to the tray. Maybe even add a layer of old inner tube on top of the spray-on rubber for even more protection.

That would fit nicely in a plastic barrel half, and cover with water. Then dump 1/2 box of baking soda, and hook your battery charger to a couple of steel rods. about one day should do it! Google electrolysis, and they will show you! I use it a lot, on rusty stuff.

2X electrolysis, or Evaporust, or a gallon of phosphoric acid cleaner. Remove the rust before painting!
