2N hydraulic issues

Ok, here is the deal lift was working great last week when I did some bush hogging. Now I spent some money buying a box blade to fix the drive my lift no longer works. I checked the fluid, (which by the way was just changed last fall) its full and clear looks new. I guess my question is how do I go about trouble shooting the issue with out a complete tare down of the tractor. I don"t have the facilities to do such work. Then I want to know how expensive is it to fix, or would I be better off looking for another tractor? Ant incite would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

The only lever I have moved is the one that makes the lift go up or down. This is the first tractor like this I have ever owned for terms of levers are pretty new to me. I grew up on a from in MI and we had IH a couple of Massys and a couple of Allis but all were newer and I very rarely messed with them. So as far as a depth lever I have not moved and thing
other than the lever I mentioned.

Thanks

I may be wrong but I'm thinking on the N series Fords the power takeoff must be in gear and clutch engaged for the hydraulic to work like most pre 50's tractors. you may
want to enter this below on the 2n8n9n forum as thats where the experts on these hang out'

(quoted from post at 11:59:42 04/15/20) Did you move the depth lever in anyway, this can effect how the lift operates.

Michael, 2N Fords do NOT have switchable depth/draft control, so the lever you mention doesn't exist.

The 2N did not have position control. It was all the way up or all the way down. This made grading difficult. Some folks used chains to limit the downward motion. I bought a "Zane Thang" that is no longer available to get the lift to stop where I needed it to. If anyone knows of another provider please chime in. I hope when you put it in gear it works normally, which is not very user friendly.

I want to thank everyone for their input. It seams that after reading the post from 47fivewindow that my dumb A$$ figured out that for some reason there must be weight on it in order for it to lower. I engaged the unit and then pushed down on the arms and they went down pulled the lever up and they went up. I had never tried letting it down with out something attached to it. So now I know thanks for all the help. I'll be back later with a question about leaking axle seal but going to look over the manual first.

Thanks

I built my own for a Ferguson from these instructions:

I don't know for sure it would fit a 2N, but I think so. Pretty easy to build, I got a chunk of 2x3 tubing from Amazon and cut all the flat pieces out of it with an angle grinder and cutoff blade. Works slick.
