YT forum access

I think there are a lot more of us in the house surfing tractor forums than usual. I notice that it sometimes takes a couple of tries to get to a forum. Did anyone else notice this?

its not the surfing . its this site is not secure or out dated. having this trouble for a few weeks now. takes forever and then when get a post typed out and go to send it it just disappears. let management know and heard nothing. might have to move to the john deere or Minnie forum if ur thinking too much traffic here and spread the cheer around. lol.

I suspect something on your end. I am on here 4 or 5 times a day and have noticed NO change in time it takes to get on or loss of postings/.

Highlight your message, right click on highlighted message, copy to clipboard, if you lose the post, try again and pasted the message in the comments field of entry again. Only way I know to not lose your post when toggling back and forth if the site is not working well. There's something on site comments about this, not sure of the details, hopefully gets better soon.

You see the padlock at the beginning of this sites web address?
That means it has been deemed by the internet god known as Google.
Your problems are your one lane internet provider is being overwelmed with traffic getting onto the internet interstate.

Its working normal, but normal is bad. Its always iffy if a page will load, its almost a lost cause on some phone browsers.

Yes, I notice the same issues. There is a good explanation of these issues down in the "Site Comments" forum under the post "speed and security issues" posted by YT administrator. One thing he is saying if you are using MS Edge for your browser you will have more problems than normal, because it times out quicker than other browsers. Also there is a padlock in my address bar indicating this forum has security, which I think slows things down a bit more. He stated due to economy being shutdown everyone under the sun is on the internet now adding about a 40-50% increase in internet traffic.

Mine takes around 30 seconds or more to change topics. It says the site is not secure at the top.

Here is article sourgum mentioned from site comments

Yes, and it has gotten worse recently.

IE or MS Edge, makes no difference.

Not my end as no issues with other sites/forums.

Not visiting so often anymore.

Dean

Only problem I'm having here is there is a loose nut behind the wheel.
A bad case of QCF - Quarantine Cabin Fever

Us guys with slow internet are the ones
who notice it more. Yes it's getting
worse.

Site comments the other day said they
were being hit by bots. It's not just
that, it's hackers too. About 4 days ago
I clicked on and the main page came up
not in English but in a squiggly line
language. I have no idea if it was arabic
or asian but it was only there for a few
seconds and then I lost connection.

I just ended a Zoom conference call with 12 people two way audio and video for all. As we work from home, the internet is
getting up to its neck in packets. I have solid service usually more than 500mb/s both ways. and it is still interupting
some links. The conference was not affected for any participant. All are likely in city/town connections. I am actually
amazed it is supporting the traffic it currently is. Jim

Have noticed lately I get a lot more "this page can't be displayed" page. Also moves slower between forums. I usually have really fast internet but I think more people are using it for business and entertainment

Yup, and because of those around here who can't stand change and insist on using the classic view, we are doomed to suffer ever-increasing amounts of this abuse until we all get sick of it and go somewhere else.

The fact of the matter is the classic forum is woefully out of date and its creator is not actively supporting it anymore. Full of holes, running old insecure protocols, easy pickings for hackers. The modern view is also woefully out of date because modifying it to synchronize with the classic view is non-trivial.

Plus upgrading it will change the look and feel, further agitating the others who can't stand change, but use the modern view.

I figure at this point, it's either lose a bunch of users by upgrading, or lose everyone to the hackers.

BE is correct. Users here pi$$ and moan about modern view but "classic" is just out of date and is not going to be upgraded by the folks that wrote that software.

I have been hard on YT from time to time because I do get disgusted with some users who genuflect to the operators as though they are doing us a favor by hosting the forum. It is a business, they make money, and are not doing this as a charity. However! It is a small business and I am sure they do not have a pile of cash to invest in a server farm and faster (or greater) bandwidth. They buy what they can afford and in general it is fine enough. They do have a digital certificate so at least the modern view is "safe." I, along with many others, enjoy the site and appreciate it for what it is.

Internet for the entire planet is wonky now that millions of people are connected working from home daily. Millions of school kids are doing their schoolwork online. Think of the interstate highways the day before Memorial Day - the internet is a crowded and busy place. We are all fortunate that it runs at all right now.

When I see the lack of all understanding on this site as far as to how it all works it makes me want to support John Deere in fighting right to repair. Those who cannot get past a browser error, or don't know the difference between a browser and an email client, stand no chance with a unique, sophisticated interface. Right to repair that includes the right to access the software should be re-named "right to fail and cost yourself a boatload of money".

Sorry for the rant, kind of.

You guys both hit it on the head. As long as this dual system remains in place nothing is going to change much.
As for those who claim they will leave if it's changed---95% of them are just blowing smoke! They'll figure out in a few days that they actually do miss the place and they'll come back and learn how to use the new system. And they'll realize how much nicer it is, although they'd never admit that.

I only have one thing to say!
What?? That's all I had to say.

Yes, i am having the same problem. Sometimes I have to reload several times and even then the photos that people have posted don't load. Never had this problem in the past. I
think it is because so many are using the Internet in the evenings when I'm on it. Not necessarily the people in my house. i will probably have to try several times to get this
post to load.

Sorry guys, but it IS this site. My ISP installed fiber-optic a few years ago. Every other website I access downloads like lightning, and If I respond to something, the upload is very quick also.

THIS site is extremely slow. I sometimes just get out, go to another website, and then come back a few hours later. SOMETIMES it is better.

(quoted from post at 19:09:04 04/15/20) Getting pretty tired of seeing "This page can't be displayed".

Yep. I've gotten it about 10 times in the last 5 minutes, including when I tried to post this. I'm about ready to give it up!!
