I have just about finished up putting a B427 Continental engine in to a Massey Harris 101 Senior....This 427 has the distributor on the side of the engine instead of on top of the engine like most Continentals do...If I read it right its a IGC 6005 2A 11N Autolite distributor which after doing some searching seems to be hard to find parts for..Notice the different cap so it will clear the exhaust manifold...Anyone know of a parts source?

Maybe I should try and find a top mount distributor to put on this tractor? I wonder if a M330 or M363 Continental distributor would work?I have some 226 Continental distributors but the drive shaft would be at least 4 inches to short as the B427 is a tall engine.

These engines were used in Brockway trucks,Fox SP silage chopper, for power units-etc..

Sounds like you know already that there are two different distributors for this same engine. Not sure how the same engine could have two different mounting locations unless I am reading your info incorrectly. I never heard of that but anything is possible I guess.

Points, rotor and condenser should not be a problem as they were used by Willys around 1950.
Niehoff points #AL5-23HV heavy duty vented or AL5-23 regular, condenser # AL37 and rotor AL89. These # s are for IGC6005-2A,B. Now your cap has no # in my listing but take a look at caps for 6cyl Autolite around 1950. There are 3 different ones that I find. I am guessing a 6 cyl cap that has 90 degrees connectors will work for clearance to manifold. You could contact Brillman Company as he has a bunch of stuff. Good luck!

Yes,but dont tell anyone....(grin) Hope to pull the 4500 and 5000 Open and maybe a 5000 class with 10 MPH limit but it may not have enough clutch or horses....Mainly just built it to to have fun but the fun may not happen until 2021??

Thanks...I knew that someone would have some parts numbers..That cap is different than any I've seen..

Yes,its built for two different distributors..It has the plate and hole in the head for the top mount distributor but would need the correct shaft to put a 226 distributor there..

Interesting ..... never heard of such a thing. If anything could be fabricated, a distributor drive shaft would be one such part I think, either lengthen or shorten one from maybe 1 226 if the end fittings were the same. I couldn't think of doing it but I'm sure a machinist could come up with something. That's a BIG project you have undertaken 1206, have you ever thought that sometimes a guy gets into something that is a LOT more work than he ever imagined? Good luck with the project.

Your cap is different but this might work with 90 degree connectors.

I started the same project years ago in a 44 chassis, sold the whole project to my neighbor. Had two B427 engines to hopefully make one good, one block was bad. Both came from Fox choppers, with dual exhaust. E Chew modified a B427 to overhead valve with Ford heads, in an LP puller he built years ago in a MH 203 if I recall..
