The trip home from Utah

Was pretty uneventful.
Just long.
I got to SLC with the bridge of my nose VERY sore from wearing that darned mask for 6 1/2 hours. Yikes that was painful.
Took a cab to the U of UT and signed the papers then as promised, we removed the plow and the guy put it in the back with a forklift and I was off at about 3 PM.
Google maps says it's 1315 miles and will take 19+ hours to get home.
The gas tank was full when I got there. Nice bonus.
I drove about 25 miles then stopped at a supermarket for groceries, water, etc for the long haul. Supermarket was busy and about 75% of the shoppers had face masks on. A lot had rubber gloves.
Interstate 80 to Des Moines. I 80 means the speed limit maybe? That's what I set the cruise control at and left it all the way.
Drove till about 11 pm and just into Nebraska before I quit and leaned over in the seat and slept for a few hours.
Woke up and hit it again.
Got home about 3:30 yesterday.
Here's the pickup.
2013 2500hd. Another Work Truck - no bells or whistles.
Has the snow plow and trailering packages on it.
I don't need or want the plow so will sell it.
Pickup had 13,336 actual miles on it when I got in it. Has 14,667 on it now.

Trip cost about $350 with the flight, taxi, fuel and one face mask.

Utah is a great state. I lived there for a year back in the early 80s.
Alllmost stayed and built a life there.
I really liked the people. My impression was they were not brilliant but family oriented, God fearing, honest, friendly and good.
Sweet Feet, sorry, no pictures for you. Go take your own. It's beautiful there and worth the trip.
I did wave your direction as I drove up I 35 going home.
Thanks to all for the replies to my other post about the face mask.

I have plenty of pictures from Utah if sweets wants some. Here is a sample. Have great pictures of hiking through some very tight slot canyons.

A few weeks ago I spent an hour or so looking for that truck but I couldn't find one. Maybe you got the last one, or maybe I need to broaden my search as you did.

Interesting, however you like to keep us guessing. What is SLC ad U of UT? Not clear to some of still using words.

I've driven I-70 through Utah several times, but I haven't done it for over 20 years.

Back then, when you left Green River, Utah heading west a sign said, "No Services Next 110 Miles". The sign wasn't kidding. Some of the most spectacular country you'll ever drive through, but if you're looking for civilization there isn't any until you get to Salina. I once saw an abandoned miner's shack on the side of a mountain and I've never found that again.

I once drove I-15 nonstop from St. George, Utah to Prove, some 260 miles. Again, a beautiful drive. Around Fullerton, there was a station wagon in the median with the tailgate open, several police cares around, and several sacks of "something" on the ground. I thought that doesn't look good for someone.

SLC = Salt Lake City

U of UT = University of Utah

And I was going to mention this before but forgot.
KRAI = 55 AM
Radio station out of Craig, Colorado.
Had a strong signal nearly all the way across Wyoming. Great oldies country - Goerge Jones, Waylon, Willie, Merle, Tammy, Dolly, Loretta, Crystal Gayle, Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell and many others.
Great listening while going through the Old West. That was the highlight of the whole trip.

I left Indiana to go skiing in Utah in 1985. Been here ever since. Its a Great place. The economy is good and people are too. Oh yeah, and I found the love of my life here too! Also twenty antique tractors. The farmers and ranchers here are something else.

Here are two of them helping me pour a new sidewalk. The U would be short for the University of Utah, and SLC is short for Salt lake city.

Looks like you did well on this, probably the best way to buy one, if you can find low miles in the condition that looks to be in.
Can't imagine there'd be even any rust on the undercarriage, the plow would be a bonus here, though like you, don't have much of a use for one, but just enough to keep it around, otherwise I'd do the same, sell it. That ought to last ya and will haul size tractors you have + materials for work ! I like the same thing in a truck, my 150 has vinyl floors, no carpet, plain steel wheels, which mind you the finish is just starting to come off a bit, no frills, as simple as you can get in these times. Best of luck with it !

I think this has been mentioned before but a regular cab long box is pretty much an extinct species up here. Maybe down there as well. Even though a lot of guys want them, like tradesmen and contractors, etc. I would be surprised if you could find one locally even though there are hundreds and hundreds of pickup trucks in local inventories. They'd maybe be able to search for one and bring it in, maybe a factory order even? The young crowd likes the regular cabs with a short box and the rear fenders (or whatever they're called) these days I think. I like your truck.

you must not had mask adjusted correct. I wear one about everyday doing dozer, skid loader work. you never know what kind weeds dusts etc those things bring up.

Just got back from spending the last 5 months in southern Utah...we prefer it to the north. SLC traffic is a bear, St George traffic is getting there, tho.
