Production tractors were all using regulators, some might have had alternators with external

Thanks Jim, any ideas to try? I built a new wiring harness for the tractor, the only way to get the tractor to charge is to ground the field wire.
Regulator is grounded on the field terminal the only thing i can figure is the resistance to ground is (22.3 ohms) and close to the same as the Armature terminal. Is this causing a path of least resistance problem?
