Scrap price

Wow! $20.00 a ton is what I was quoted yesterday. Never had taken anything to a scrapper before but decided I needed to clean up a few things I have laying around. Stopped by a local scrap yard just to get a little insight on how the process works. Wasn't really thinking too much about what it would bring more like just wanting to clean up.

Lady said it's usually around 80 a ton but right now it really down. Should I wait or just accept what it is?

I?d get it gone or it?ll just sit where it is for another five or ten
years . Used to scrap some and for awhile it was 250$ a ton

And it?s only going to go cheaper as fuel price drops why it follows fuel I don?t know maybe it doesn?t everywhere but it does here

Last time I took scrap tin a few months ago $100 a
ton. I posted it on here, so if you want to do a
search, you can find the date and a copy of prices.
geo.

I remember scrap at about $250 a ton. That being the 'tin" value which is just a hodgepodge of everything. If you separate it all down, you
get a better price.
Currently at $20 just about pays the gas bill to take it. Glad the trailer isn't even 1/2 full yet.
I figure it will be down most of this year and maybe next?
Glad to have been blessed so abundantly not to be desperate in need of the funds.

It was fun when scrap was at 250$ but the scrap started getting harder to find and people couldn?t figure out why you couldn?t pay them the same 250$ you were getting at the scrap yard a hundred mile round trip away and that was getting towards the end of the scrap drive my partner always said we can?t afford to do charity scrap . People don?t stop to think they weren?t maintaining a truck and trailer and 12 tires or the loader or putting fuel in or paying insurance on anything or the fact that we needed to make a little money at the deal .oh well We did make a lot of money there for a couple years.

Look on the bright side. That "holy grail" of a tractor that's been sitting in a hedge row that you've always wanted...just might stay there awhile longer.

yup it was and now everybody thinks it is still like that if you want to buy and old truck for the frame. Truck frames are the best wagons I've ever had. No spindle trouble and very few tire problems.

Yea but the old lady won?t sell it anyway then when she moves to the rest home the kids will send it to melt anyway

Anyone waiting for scrap to return to the high prices of a few years ago is going to have a very long wait.At that time China was using a lot of steel to build for the Olympics and other things.A lot of people over 60 will most likely never see an economy like it was up until about 2 months ago in their lifetime for a variety of reasons.
The chickens are coming home to roost with the Big Bird being the massive credit both public and private, price of scrap will be the least of most people's problems.

(quoted from post at 05:29:03 04/02/20) $ 80.00 here in Pennsylvania as of last week

You probably won't get that price today.

I took in a small lot of stuff yesterday, just to get it out of my way, got $30/gross ton. A load of 740 pounds paid $9.95. It was on my way to pick up a tractor at the repair shop, so no travel cost.

I did some cleanup around last week and had some stuff ready to load and take in. I already knew the price was down as I just
wanted it gone. I called my scrap yard and he said the governor of Mi. shut him down as a unnecessary business due to lock down.
Hes in Oakland county where they are enforcing the lock down which is close to our hot spot in Detroit.

I have an old wore out trailer that all scrap metal goes on. my local scraper guy come gets it unloads it and brings it back leaves me payment in office. works for me since I just want it gone anyway. some times its hundreds, sometimes its a supper worth. sometime he brings me a item he thinks I can use! last load he brought back with it was a western snow plow complete, appear to have very little use, it now fits my skidsteer

Local yard is closed to the public.. Just before the closing they were accepting no aluminum cans. Tin and cars were 40 a ton prepared was only 60 a ton.

Everything goes in cycles. Right now, I'm sitting on mine. I can store it out of the way and out of sight. Don't need the money right now. Still buying. Just
bought 2 D6's, 2A/C road graders, 2 JD pickers, and 1JD combine to pick a few parts off of, then scrap when the price is good.
