Something I do not like on new truck

The voice command on new truck sounds like a British transvestite.

I guess it is gender neutral, but come on, in a truck.

How do you happen to know what a British transvestite sounds like? Just curious, no judgement. ;)

Ford Diesel, came out with their own in 2011, this is my third one of that generation, sixth Ford Diesel total.

I had one Duramax in the middle, great engine, but chassis did not handle trailers as smooth as Ford.

Are you being served that was one funny show. The little queer and the old sexpot lady on there. Laugh till my sides hurt some nights watching that.

Your truck trade story made me think of when I traded for my current truck. I pulled the old truck next to the new one to transfer the stuff from the glove box and behind the seat to the new one. pulled out the jumper cables, tarp and tarp straps, the bag where I store my ratchet straps, ice scraper, etc, and.......What's in that bag? A Christmas present I had bought for my wife two years earlier that I stashed behind the seat to hide it till Christmas. Crystal and I still get a laugh whenever we think about it. Hope you get many miles of good service out of your new one.

I could probably name 10 plus things I would not like but I am old school so one with be the transmission. To me it has to have 3 pedals or I do not own it

Chapman or Cleese?

Can't you get into the setup feature and change it? I had a GPS receiver that I could set up for "British English" or "American English". Could be set up for many languages as well.

Lol. Thanks for the laugh David. Way back when I used to catch Benny Hill every now and then. A little raunchy but always a good laugh.

The voice could be programmable, for kicks ask the dealer if the voice can be changed to be more like Stevie Nicks. The dealer might pass that on to the factory.

I think I could recognize a British accent, but I haven't had enough experience with transvestites to get that specific in my identification .....

YUP i am with yo on this . First off the have only ever made two Automatic's , You have the ones that are already out and you have the ones that are going out . Back in the day i worked as a mechanic/ Tech what ever for Ford and Chrysler and i was pretty darn good at what i did because someone was always tryen to steal me away to come work for them . I worked mainly on the performance cars Till someone let it slip that hey he knows DIESELS while working for a large Ford dealership that also sold big trucks as i knew Cummins and Detroit s and even had the TOOLS I went thru Chryslers schooling on the 727's and 904's and knew all the tricks of beefing them p for racing and went thru Ford schooling on the slush boxes of the day your FMX C4 and C 6's and again all the tricks of the trade to beef them up shift harder and faster . I have owend TWO Ford F 250 4X4's with C 6's and the best i could get out of them was five years of snow plowing and they would always drop kick you when you needed them the most . Yea i could drop one out and throw in in my tranny stand and wizz thru one in less then a day and be back at it with a C 6 built and a 727 even faster . Now with a good old fashioned Standard transmission myself i have never had a problem with a good old fashioned four speed and the jury is still out on the NV 4500 in my Dodge and it is a 95 . But i do not tow with it and i do not slam shift it since it is a TRUCK . Now one one friend thinks he is driving his old Super BEE and slam shift his and to date have gone thru four third gear synchronizer aqnd he insisted on dragging his goose neck in Over drive and munched that up . My 88 Ford F 350 i beat the dog snot out of that truck and had to put a clutch in due to the throw out bearing failure but never a problem with the ZF five sped as i did not tow in over drive and with the 460 engine running forth gear with the trailer on put the engine in it's power and torque range . Take a page out the old IRON HAULERS HAND BOOK , and it states if your going to haul IRON then ya need IRON to haul it with.

My bet also.
Most likely a 100 choices to choose from even foriegn languages too.
And unless the voice command is new for 2020, there are likely a few apps with many more to choose from that can be downloaded from the net and uploaded into your truck.

There are likely some from nice to naughty dialogs.

I think that's a very outdated mentality, modern electronic controlled transmissions can shift well without making heat and trying to absorb the torque thru the converter on every shift like the old days. Allison automatics have been bulletproof for years in big trucks. Same with the newer Ford super duty trans, 20 years ago I would have agreed but not today

Take it slow on the shifting of the nv4500 and stay out of fifth pulling big hills loaded and you?ll be fine

Yep. 22 years ago when I was last shopping for a truck, I wanted the 5 speed, but found a really good deal on a 2 year old model with an auto so bought it. Best decision ever. Has something over 300k miles on it and other than a few oil changes has never needed any work.

Easier to drive in traffic and easier to use off road than a stick. A bit less MPG is the only real downside I see. A bit slower than a stick, but how quick do need a pickup to be anyway?

dave I have a GMC but see in the menu it may have a choice on who talking. I know I changed mine the second day.

Salt belt here so forget owning a manual truck unless you want to import one from way down south or drive a rust bucket. I'm a diehard "will never own an automatic" guy too.

Had a 7.3L ZF 6-speed manual F250, rust started to take it's toll and replaced it with a ecoboost F-150 automatic.

No way could I shift that 6-speed manual as fast as the automatic shifts. Start with a loaded trailer uphill from a stop light in granny low then row that that 6-speed fast and get still get left in the dust, I can keep up with the cars off the line with ecoboost.
