Looking for fluid requirements, best fluid for drive gear boxes, fluid for pump that is driven by the magneto, best rear end and transmission fluid types.

Thanks

I am thinking that old girl is very restorable. Not so sure about the fella standing next to it.

Just kidding! Welcome to the forums! Post down on the IH board also. Good guys there. :)

Talcon ,for the rear end and tran (these are together) use 90 or 140 gear lube, this also is used in the bull gears out by the rear wheels. Use 30wt non-detergent in the engine unless you know the oil pan has been cleaned. I don't know what you mean by the pump driven by the mag.Are you thinking the governor that sets in front of mag is a pump. this is oiled by the engine. you need an owners manual. Be sure u retard the mag timing before u crank it or u could get injured. Are u sure it's a 24? what is serial number? plate on tool box,on frame in front of radiator and SB on left side of engine block. Good luck they are a tuff old bird. Rick

Serial number is QC 668, where do I find the serial number aside from the tool box as that plate is missing

Tool box plate is missing, anything I could find online doesn't mention the last 2 numbers on the block. The number has no prefix on the frame

There is no prefix on the frame numbers, everything I could find also did not reference the "15" after the QC668.

I don't know anything about the tractor, but the guy in the pic could be my brothers identical twin. Is this in Az?

Serial #66815 makes it a 1929 engine. tractor should be the same unless engine was changed.
Also it does not have the early round governor. If you have not tag than you can't call it a 1924 with out proof.

You have an engine with an oil filter so you need to use detergent oil period. I run 15w40 diesel oil in all mine. The manual calls for sae 180 in the gearboxes, sae 140 is the closest I can find. leaks less and quiets the strait cut gears a bit better.

while I agree with 36F30 about running good detergent oil in a tractor with an oil filter I still caution that the old heifer could have an inch or more of dirt in the bottom of the oil pan and that oil will stir it up. clean your oil pan it's not hard.

I would think that it has detergent oil in it, but if it doesn't the detergent oil will clean all the sludge out of the engine and it will likely start burning oil. I've seen
this happen.

When you drain the oil, reach up through the drain plug with a finger and you'll feel the sludge if there's any. A THIN layer of black gunk is normal.

I dont want to call her something she isn't 1929 is good too, I know shes old and she is still pretty. Thanks for your help
