and didn't get much response.
---Craigslist add wanted hit n miss engines....I have an old jd. I think they were 1 1/2 hp. Right? Anyway mine is an older restoration. Hasn't been run in years but I think if I clean the tank and fuel line I can get it to run. I'm going to send the guy some pics. Oh it is on trucks. I have no idea what price to tell him. What do you think? Thanks.---

I sold a nice JD 1 1/2 on trucks about 4 years ago for $1500. It was a good running engine. I'm not sure what one would bring now.

I see them on Ebay for $1500-2000, running I assume.

Getting it running would be a worthwhile investment!

Engines, unless they are very rare and unique models, have taken a hit lately, like most things. A better place to ask about current values might be Smokstak. Of course those engine guys placing CL want ads arent looking to give you a fair price for your iron, theyre just fishing to see whats out there- maybe some old dude kicked the bucket and left a bunch of old engines in the garage and the kids want clear them out cheap so they can store their jacked-up custom golf cart in there.

If your answering a want ad placed by that fella in Carleton, Mich. who is constantly looking for old engines, you might just end up paying him!

Probably should start be being SURE about what you have, they were made in 1-1/2, 4, and 6 HP versions.

Prices vary widely by HP, I've seen nice 1-1/2 HP's sell for under $700, more for the 3's, and the RARE 6 HP's can bring 10 grand or more.
