Yesterday I attended a farm sale 360 miles to the northwest of me near Smith Center,KS...I probably got the long distance award...It was real foggy and chilly in the morning but later in the day the sun came out and it got in to the mid 50's..The first thing they did was sell 320 acres of pasture and farm ground..

Tract 1----160 acres sold for $280,000
Tract 2----160 acres sold for $340,000

That may seem cheap to lots of you but it was mostly pasture...The yields on the crops were milo 70 bushels per acre and wheat 38 bushels per acre..There was 7 acres of alfalfa..

Thank you for posting. I always enjoy auction results from around the country. Seems to me things were fairly reasonable as far as prices.

If your tractor has John Deere fenders on it you might recoop 1/2 your money back selling them ?

1206SWMO always enjoy your pictures and trips to farm sales. Not sure what route you took to get to Smith Center but if you went thru Manhattan,KS. you were close. I did read about that sale but could not make the sale. Looks like a good day.

I go west on 54 Hwy to El Dorado and then work my way north and west..A Cockshutt collector from the Manhattan area was at the sale..

Is that a possum crawling out of the grill of that old Chevy? He?s on the board hanging in front of the Grill?

Those are the correct fenders for a E-4 Co-op and a 40 Cockshutt.....Several wondered why one was painted green...

Oh that makes sense looks like a fun auction to be at. The kids probably didn?t want to stay around the farm. The equipment wasn?t worth much was it . Thanks for posting

Nice pics, thanks for posting. Looks like a good, well-organised sale. Don't know how much a combine should cost but it seems like that JD went cheap. Was at a sale some years back in eastern KS, well-drilling family had amassed a couple hundred vehicles over the years, lots of drivers and parts cars, a little of something for everyone. I remember some buyers just taking the parts they wanted off the vehicles and leaving the rest there. The standout for me was a little Falcon pickup, don't know if they called that the Ranchero or not. Can't remember the name of the well-drilling company--maybe Bartley's? Something began with a B i think.

That is odd that you posted this. I met you on K18 highway about 5:00 last evening and wondered who had the old cockshutt tractor on the trailer..lol. I live NW of Salina about 20 miles. Good luck with it. Bob

Wow.....thanks a bunch. I was going to make the trip from Wisconsin to try and buy that old 1954 Chevrolet truck but I chickened out when I did the math and my trailer would really be maxxed out hauling it. Your picture was a lot better than the one on Bob Thummel's website.

What did the 1954 Chev pickup sell for ?

I was on the phone with one of Bob Thummel's guys on Saturday at a sale close to there. Nice IHC 4wd pickup, 1950's Dodge Power Wagon and 1940's Dodge Command Car. Didn't get any them ......came real close on the Command Car. The other two were $$$$$$.

I love the area you are in. I had been out there to sales in 2010 in "Rock Post County" and another sale with an Indian motorcycle in 2014.

1206SWMO,

Ooh, la, la... love that old gas pump and the rusty CO-OP tractor!!

Thanks for posting auction pics/prices... always interesting to read.

The 54 Chev pickup was the last thing to sell and they had to go 1/4th mile west to sell it..I was busy loading so didnt go and watch it..
