Yesterday I attended a farm sale 360 miles to the northwest of me near Smith Center,KS...I probably got the long distance award...It was real foggy and chilly in the morning but later in the day the sun came out and it got in to the mid 50's..The first thing they did was sell 320 acres of pasture and farm ground..
Tract 1----160 acres sold for $280,000
Tract 2----160 acres sold for $340,000
That may seem cheap to lots of you but it was mostly pasture...The yields on the crops were milo 70 bushels per acre and wheat 38 bushels per acre..There was 7 acres of alfalfa..
The 1486 IH with loader and duals sold for $5,700..Hadnt been used much in recent years but ran good...Had 2 new batteries.
The 706 IH diesel sold for $900...It hadn't been ran in 15 years and the engine was stuck..
The M Farmall wasn't running and sold for $900..Had been in the family since new...Hadnt ran in 15 years and carb needed cleaning..
The 6620 JD diesel combine with 220 header ran nice and sold for $2,350
The old gas pump sold for $1,200....It was bolted down..
The E-4 Coop sold for $600 and came home with me..It was a mess to dig out and load..I needed the sheet metal and rear rims but of course calcium had ruined both rear rims...I also managed to buy a Cockshutt yard stick..
The 1973 IH Loadstar ran and sold for $1,700
The cattle trailer sold for $1,700....The bale trailer beside it sold for $800
