John Deere 2305 Starter

I'm trying to remove a starter from a JD 2305. The motor mount and studs that hold the starter on make this very difficult. Anyone experienced this and figured out a solution? :?

If it attaches like the starter on my brothers 2940 does I think I go an end wrench in there on it. The idea of the bolts being a smaller pattern than the motor part of the stater they should have hung the designer. If he did it again killed him worse the next time.

On the older tractors I take a socket the right size
that?s 1/4 inch drive and that gives enough room to
get the bolts out

I wonder what genius did decide to make the bolt pattern smaller than the motor ? Pulled a starter out of a little white tractor and not only was the bolt pattern smaller they had a cast a little piece right behind the bolt head so so you couldn?t get a socket on it had to use a crows foot to get any where near it and then only a about a 16th of a turn and that was on the back bolt

I took the hack saw and cut it off so the next person could actually Work on the stupid thing I still hope I never have to cross paths with it ever again it was actually built by same for white before whites death

I got the starter off by removing the left side motor mount that runs the length of the motor. There are 6 or 8 bolts that hold it on. You will need to put a floor jack under the motor and a block of wood to lift the motor up. You will have to loosen and remove the 2 rubber bushings between the mounts. Also remove the exhaust pipe. Then after you test the starter, mine was ok, you start trying to figure out what fuse, relay, diode, safety switch, wire etc is keeping it from starting. Then you put a button on the tractor to bypass the electrical issue that cannot be found and start your tractor with that. Have a nice day.
