I have a 1650 with a stanadyne pump that was freshly rebuilt when I parked it in the shed about 5 years ago.should I take it off and get it looked at before I try anything? I don?t want to ruin any parts on it

The Stanadyne/RoosaMaster DB pumps seldom break anything inside after setting unused like the American Bosch PSB rotary pumps when engine start attempt is made. If it starts/runs, great. It MIGHT not work though due to stuck internal parts though, I repair a lot that come in with stuck plungers and valves that need a complete tear down and cleaning to get the pump working again. Water in fuel, or bio diesel are pumps worst enemies when setting unused awhile..

I have had a few standby units. That sat longer than that. Crank up and run just fine. I had more problems with water in the fuel. The old diesel might smoke some.
