Another milestone

I went for my DOT physical yesterday. I had talked to the doctor over the 'phone last week so he was familiar with my situation, and I had a letter from my cardiologist with me indicating that he had no reservations about me driving. However, when he realized that I had been in cardiac arrest he was concerned so he went and got the book. Ultimately he could find no red flags so he passed me, and I am now back on active duty with my Fire Department.

Congrats. I hate dot physicals. I'm always worried about my borderline
blood pressure.
 
My last DOT physical was no problems reported, none found and good to go.
Nothing hurts. Everything works. Leave me alone, let me go.

Now retired and really don't need a CDL anymore, just harder to get one than keeping it.
 
Went to renew my CDL few years ago. Doc says you had a heart attack, yes, 20 some years ago,
mild, as h/a's go and no problems since. He asked what did they do? Two stints, end to end, no surgery.
He says, OK, you need a stress test every year to keep your CDL.
I asked if getting the DOT physical wasn't stress enough. He said no.
SO, I let mine go. I was 68 or so at the time. I only drive for the local farmers
now, and I don't need one for that.

I am a few weeks short of 71 right now and I would not be concerned about a stress test. They say that you need 150 minutes of cardio exercise a week in order to keep your hear healthy, so I have been shooting for four 30 minute work-outs a week for the time being. It really makes me feel better.
