Honey Bees

Went outside for a call of nature, around noon, quiet and warm and sunny, standing under the sweet gum tree, kept hearing this buzz-buzz-buzzing. Finally looked up, the honey bees were taking lunch at all the white blossoms on the sweet gum! Hundreds of them. By 4;30 they were all gone back to the hive, wherever that was.

we are at least a mont away up here in north central illnoize. my bees were out a couple of times when the weather hit the 50 degree mark.

I have bees around the liquid feed tanks. All the time.Let them gather what they need. I have never been stung by any of them. They land on me all the time.Just be calm around them and you will be ok.

Back when we fed ground ear corn to the cattle the feed wagon would be swarming with honey bees early in the spring. The ground corn must have had some sugar they liked. It was a little unnerving to lean into a wagon full of bees to scoop up a pail full of feed but they never bothered me.

My uncle would get feed ground by the pickup load. In the spring and sometimes during the summer he would plan filling feed pails around the bees. Early in the morning or after dark.
