I have a JD 5303, when out running it and stop, it has a frying sound around the transmission. Oil level normal. It's louder sounding in cool weather, but it does it in summer also. The case don't seem to be to hot, oil pan hotter than the transmission case. Have any ideal what is causing this?

I have a 5303 and this may help. Mine started a similar noise that would abate when the hydraulics were being used. Meaning that the noise would quiet significantly if I operated the loader. There is a recall for a defective valve in the hydraulic system. JD fixed mine for 0$. So, a simple test would be to operate the hydraulics while the tractor is running in 'park'. If the noise drops off and then picks up after you cease hydraulic load, I'd check your local dealer with the serial #. Hope this helps.

Has hyd oil sump screen ever been checked/cleaned?
