Found this picture of my great uncle with some sort of tractor & implement. Curious to know what make this was. Think may have been taken in the 20's?

Case made one like that, but this one looks different. Hard to tell from that pic. Post it down on the case forum many someone there will know.

I forget the make, but I think that's probably from the 'teens. I believe it's a one wheel drive, 3 wheeled tractor. The big wheel in the back is the drive wheel. The engine looks like its cross mounted. Seems to me there were several designs like that. Someone with one of Wendells books will probably be able to narrow it down.

Your uncle doesn't look like a man I'd want to wrassle with on a Saturday night!

Can't help you with the tractor but the implement is a plow. But more impotantly then that--those are really some nice pictures.

(quoted from post at 14:00:05 02/28/20) What might that crop be?

Hard to tell, he might be plowing down a "nice" stand of wild mustard, doesn't really look like a legume crop such as sweet clover or alfalfa to me.

I was talking to a coworker the other morning at shift turnover- his Grandfather owned a General Store in the Central Valley area of California (Chico?), they hosted Saturday night wrestling matches amongst local farmers upstairs of the store. My Grandfather owned a similar store here in the Michigan Fruit Belt, but they played high stakes card games instead.

The crop he is plowing resembles buckwheat possibly a green manure crop. Or it could be crimson clover or legume of some type. From his shirt that appears to be a picture taken in the summer. In that time period 90 % farmers were farming with horses until Fordson started selling lots of tractors. That has to be one of the earliest tractors to come out of the Minneapolis Tractor factory. (1913 - 1914 ?) Those may have only been made for 4 - 5 years. Interesting and rare tractor picture.

Great photographs, looks like your ancestors knew their place in history. I think it would be rare to photograph everyday scenes like this but I could be wrong about that.

Thank you all for comments. I enjoy this group so much everyday. Feels like letters from old friends. Here's grandpa Henry & uncle John ready to spread the manure.

You should post more photos like this if you have any. They are one of the best things I've seen on this site. Also, if you could adjust the angle so there isn't so much glare that would be helpful. Not always easy to do. Thanks again for the pics, great that you have those images of your family history.
