3 Point Boom poles

I've never used one but they look pretty neat for someone who doesn't have a front loader. Anybody use them? How about some pics? Do they make any for 70-ish HP tractors? Did John Deere ever make one or is this thing homemade?

I had one to skid logs worked great gets the nose on the log up so it did not dig in, mine did not have the ram I just lifted the 3 point

That would get light on the front end real quick.
It would be handy for light work. I have a 3 point fork lift and it gets pretty light on the front end. A friend had a boom with a winch on his farmall. I think it was a 560. He had a front loader on it with the bucket full of steel and its lift capacity was still pretty low. That one looks like it needs some down riggers or something. I had a boom on my 3010 for awhile and it max out around 1000 pounds. It was hard steering.

I have never seen one like that before. Looks REAL heavy. I would guess your ability to lift would be limited. The further out on the boom you get, the less it will lift. On smaller tractors with, say, 2000# lift at the 3 pt arms, you cannot get even close to that at the end of the boom. Plus the tractor gets light up front and the load sways so everything gets unstable if you try to move and turn. I have a small one for the little tractors. I do use it for quite a bit.

I have several tractors with front end loaders but still use a boom pole for different things.I keep one on the rear of my AC 180 that has a loader.Boom pole works good for moving tractors around handling wheel weights, tractor tires and rims etc.The one I use is a Catagory II pretty heavy built.

They won't pick up much, but they are relatively cheap to buy. You will soon learn that the tractor front end comes off the ground a lot easier than you would have expected. I have a front end loader so I have not used my boom pole in years, but every so often you will have a situation where it is just the right tool for the job.

That one in the picture sure looks like it could be factory built.
I have used the cheapo ones sold by TSC type places. The one we have is round tubing and the center link attachment point is really high up and can cause some problems with interfering with parts on the tractor. I had it on the 4020 one time and the top link came up and touched the hook holder where you store the top link when unhooked from an implement.
I just barely lifted it up a bit more until it did touch and the top link upper threaded part snapped like a pretzel.

I think for most purposes, a light duty one will suffice. Reason being, they are easily handle, mounted and can still lift quite a bit, covering the more common tasks. I have a county line light duty one, just in case there is a need to hoist something and the backhoe is down or what have you. For what it cost, very handy and easy to mount quickly.

That one in the photo, that is something, telescopic, probably 1/4" wall or at least 3/16" wall tube, looks to have jack stands to keep it up at a height to mount easily. Nice with a cylinder to lift the boom that pivots up and down. It has the stiffener across the top, multiple holes for the clevis where you can set same for heavier loads, closer to the tractor. They must use a lot of front weight ballast, that boom and the multi-shank ripper must weight quite a bit. Very nice design, but looks to want a dedicated tractor or other machine to mount it to given how heavy it is.

I made one of those years ago but almost never used it. Then a few years back I wanted to build a hay barn so I reworked it so I could use it on the front end loader so I could lift the beam up as high as I needed

I use mine every so often. No front end loader so it comes in handy especially when I need an implement thats gotten itself behind another one. I set the generator, air compressor, or other heavy stuff in the truck bed with it. Easier to load multiple implements on the gooseneck with it so I dont have to attach the 3 point to all of them also.

My brother and I just built one made mostly out of scraps we
had around. Works well and will lift the front wheels of the
vac/300 off the ground.

Had a JD boom pole. Must have been at least 45 years old. Tried lifting something very heavy and bent it. Went off to the consignment auction in August of 2019. Only picture I have of it at the front of the trailer.
