The Tractor at the Farm Heritage Site

I drive by this nearly every day, just stopped recently to take some pics. Looks like it's missing some parts but nice display piece. This is the place that runs the old cable shovels and dozers during their special events open to the public. Great bunch of guys playing in the dirt. Most of the equipment they keep around actually runs.

That's a nice old Farmall Regular in good shape for its age, too bad its missing a valve cover, exhaust pipe and magneto, engine is probably rusted up beyond affordable repair.

Adrian, I've been drooling over a Farmall F-20 on steel in a barn about 2 miles from home for several years. It has a tow behind brush hog and gets used, you can tell because of the tracks coming from shed and sometimes there is fresh grass clippings on mower. I have stopped and knocked on the house door a couple times but never talked to anyone. Wednesday night at church I was talking about tractors and turns out we go to church with the lady that owns it!! She is planning to sell it. Het husband passed away and she doesn't need it. It's a '37. She said the last winter he was sick he didn't drain motor and it cracked and good welder fixed it and it has been run since then. Hopefully i can buy this tractor. My wife blurted out" Kevin has been in love with that tractor for years" lol. What's it worth ?

Well, since the old lady knows now that you are in love with the tractor, it is probably worth a lot more to the her.....or not. Depends on whether you can convince her you will love it forever more....

Kevin, great story! I'm guessing that the bushhog would be the bigger half of the value. F20s on steel are rare, but with a limited demand. I would think the pair would be some under $1000. maybe with your past purchasing experiences, well under. good luck.

(quoted from post at 07:54:31 02/21/20) First post correctly stated BRUSH HOG!!!!!!!!!!!

Incorrect. Brand name is BUSH HOG.

No such thing as a "bRush hog." It's a bastardization of the brand name used to incorrectly refer to anything that looks like a BUSH HOG.

Anything that is not a BUSH HOG brand, is a "rotary cutter."

(quoted from post at 07:42:46 02/21/20) Is that in Carroll County?

It's in Howard County, MD--just across from the fairgrounds. BTW they have an excellent collection of old hand tools way back in one of the buildings that they open on special days. Looks like they emptied the barns and sheds from just about every old farm around there and put together this collection. A lot of really interesting pieces.

Situations like that often get uncomfortable- she thinks since it is old and still operational it is worth a fortune, and when you offer her a thousand, she will be offended and think you are trying to steal it. Best ask her to put a price on it, and go from there.
