Old Rust Finds a New Home

Brought this home today from beautiful neighbouring state of Virginia. Been a family tractor, seen better days. I am mostly interested in the motor, will see if it is free as the seller didn't know too much about it. Nice patina, maybe different attempts at painting it or could be original colors throughout. My F40 is all red.

This tractor is another Massey Ferguson F40 with what I imagine would be a trip loader. I still have to get the loader arms and bucket.

Looks like a good project! Also looks like a New Idea 502 loader on it, not a bad
little loader but not really too heavy duty tho. I have one on a 63 Ford 4000 and
it's good for moving snow.

(quoted from post at 20:06:42 02/03/20) Sweet! And it looks like it has good rubber. Good tie down!

Front tires are ok, rears are shot. Heavily cracked and dry-rotted. About worst I've seen. Better than nothing just to roll the tractor around. Oh, one side was low, went to air it up. Valve stem is stuck, won't let me inflate the tire. Checked the other side, rim is rusted to point where tube is showing through. That can't be good. Took off valve stem dust cap just to be nosy. Discovered that's the only thing keeping air in the tire--the dust cap. Kinda different.

(quoted from post at 22:44:32 02/03/20) 56 Ford to rent the trailer? Good looking tractor.

Hahaha 2001 Honda. I'll address that issue in another post since it provoked such a lively discussion before. Spoiler: U-Haul does allow for transport of tractors on their car-haulers.

Attached photo is my favorite part of the tractor. Very rare to find this emblem, even if it is all busted up.

Thanks, I am guessing that loader has a trip-bucket? Did a search, didn't see any hydraulics for up front.

(quoted from post at 14:50:26 02/04/20) Yes, mine has the trip bucket. If you aren't going to use the loader I wish I was
closer as I could use some parts for mine. Oh well :):)

Email me if you want. I've posted the whole loader assembly for sale locally at a pretty low price. Maybe shipping would be too much but you never know.

I don't see your email open but with me being in Nebraska the shipping would be too high for me. What I really
need is the lift cylinders as my seal blocks are getting pretty worn in mine and if the arms were in good shape
I would love to replace mine. Mine have been really abused, bent and broken but repaired to be useable. Thanks
anyway! Greg NE

Ok you're right my email is closed, still haven't figured out this site. Was open, but not now. Anyway, I did just post the loader assembly in the classifieds on this site. I can only access them through "Classic" view. The ads don't show up on Modern. Just FYI.
