So the parking spot is too narrow, so you get out and use the auto park feature on your Hyundai. So while you are in the office or having a long 2 hour leisurely lunch, the 2 guys parked beside you decide to leave. Of course you are parked so close that they can not get their doors open to into their vehicle to leave.

Quiz: What happens next?
A) they go back inside and wait patiently for a couple hours until you get ready to leave?
B) they are driving junkers and they bash in the sides of your car when they climb into their cars.
C) they call a tow truck and drag your car backwards for 30 feet ,,,damage to your tires, brakes, transmission.
D) they call the cops who ticket you for bad parking and gross stupidity.
E) they nominate you for "Citizen of the Year?

Didn't see the ad but it sounds like technology setting someone up for a case of parking lot rage.

Actually they both can get into their cars. Car on the left can use his drivers door no problems. The guy on the other side can go through the passenger door. NOW BOTH of them are idiots who DON'T know how to park. The guy with the Hyundai could have fixed something on them. I also assume this is Boston?

OK, I get it: Another way to separate the buyer from some more of his money. Outcome: It's been documented pretty well already. Personally, I don't want to park that close to anyone anywhere, unless I don't want them breaking into MY car (can't get the doors open...). Imagine the additional possibility of the thing malfunctioning. Self driving car ____________ (fill in the blank here).

Nope, not interested. I just keep on driving my 20 year old pickup and find a place to park where I have to walk. The doctor tells me I need the exercise.

Yeah, Boston Jeff. Our daughter lives just across the bay and we get there two or three times a year to see the grandkids. The accent (and attitude) can get annoying to a Midwesterner real quick.

I go into Boston occasionally. You see very little head in parking. Most is parallel. In southern NH where I live half of the population have emigrated from Massachusetts, and drive accordingly. I have no sympathy for people who ignore the parking space lines and leave themselves no room. Part of learning to drive is learning tp park.

What bad parking? You're perfectly between the lines. It's the idiots on either side who are parked badly. If anybody gets a ticket, they will.

However, I would not want my shiny brand new car in that situation because it's probably not coming out of there unscathed. People don't care about their car or yours. Bumper cars all day every day.
