This is a photo Of Dr. Strickland of Westminster, SC and his wife crossing Chauga River about 8 miles from our home up toward the mountains.
He had this 1910 Maxwell.
When a young friend of ours bought the old Strickland house, I helped him restore it.
This lady I knew who lived to about 104, was delivered into this world by Doc Strickland.

Yes. I see that an immaculately restored 1910 Model AA Runabout (red with black) sold at Hershey's for $33,000 in Oct of 2019. I'd be interested in something like that and would park it in the living room on my farm. A nearby friend had a Duesenberg Model J parked in his living room for years but then sold it and got into collecting Packards. Also excellent cars. We have the "Old Iola Car Show" up here in July and I have some friends who show their cars including the Packard friend. Speaking of cars, my wife and I toured the BMW plant in SC last Feb which was interesting. We had also toured the Rouge plant so it gave us an opportunity to compare a 90 year old plant with an almost new plant. They each turn out about 1400 vehicles per day with two 10 hour shifts. Same number of employees.

We stayed overnight in Statesville, NC and then drove to the BMW plant the next day for the tour and then went on to Columbia, SC for the night. We were on our way to Florida. We'll be coming through SC again this year during the 3rd week of Feb but we'll be closer to the coast. I want to stop at Fort Sumter, Hilton Head, etc, and then on to north Florida and then we're going to scoot across the Fl panhandle through New Orleans and on to San Antonio. Then on to New Mexico, Arizona, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, etc. Hope to make it back to the farm before spring planting. My corn planter needs a tune up.

Speaking of Maxwells.....
I was a young kid in grade school and my dad, my uncle and my granddad were tearing down an old barn to reclaim the lumber. My cousin, just a couple of years older than me, came along and were were "treasure hunters". Hey, you never know what you might find in an old barn, right? We were too young to be assigned any dangerous work carrying lumber or pulling nails. Halfway through the tear down, we found two old wooden-spoked wheels that had the Maxwell name on the center cap. I quickly latched on to them and still have them today. They are in near new condition and had my brother-in-law put a stain on them to make them look good.
Someday I might make light fixture with them to put over the pool table.

When I was young, I asked my Grandpa what his 1st car was. It was a Maxwell. I believe he said it was about a 1913. When asked why he quit driving it, he said that the rear end went out of it. Probably parked it in the woods.
