I know this bunch has a way of finding stuff. I am in the search for a V 12 GMC 702 gas engine.
Produced in the early 60s, anyone know of one please let me know.

There wasn't a lot of them made, but seen some for sale, Have you looked at gmc.com. They used them in bus's, before diesel came along i think.

There's one available on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GMC-702-cubic-inch-V-12-ENGINE/124057643933?hash=item1ce2696b9d:g:fggAAOSwrhFeDn9a

Boy do you know how to dream big! They are out there but there are also collectors who hoard everyone they can find. Think they were used in oil fields too. Share the dream BABY. Just to dang many cylinders going up and down at the same time. You almost can't count the beats.
GMC V 12. That is two sixes glued together .

Hey.. you can take advantage of that free pickup. Wonder what that came out of.

It wasn't 2 6's glued to together. 1 block, 1 cam, 1 crankshaft, with 4 heads and 2 carbs. There is a fellow in Indiana that rebuilds them. I talked to him about 6 years ago when I found one in a junk yard in northern SD. He told me the freight to get it to him would not be worth the core value. They were used in logging trucks, fire trucks and other semis. Pass about anything on the road but a gas station.

They were used on the deep irrigation wells of west Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas.

I think more of them were used for natural gas irrigation pumps than for any other application. Of course, after 30-40 years in service, I imagine most were pretty well used up when they were finally retired. But somebody out in northeastern Colorado might have one sitting out back they'd be willing to part with.

ThunderV12.com sells core engines for $4K and graded cores for up to $12K. But you probably already know that.

As mentioned below, they were used in mostly cabover trucks as well as industrial applications and irrigation pumps. Not popular because by the time you got them home from the gas station, it was time to go back and refill. But kind of an impressive looking unit.

Denny that is the kind of deal I am looking for. Not trying to steal one but find a reasonable priced core or engine to build. Yes I have found plenty of the 8/10 thousand dollar ones but has to be someone with one for less. Thanks for all the replies.

About 5 years ago, the local machine shop had a V12 GMC bare block and all the internal goodies setting there waiting for the owner to come up with the cash that it took to do the machining. An interesting piece, but I'm not sure what the owner eventually did with it.
I'd always imagined putting a V12 GMC in a T-bucket custom street rod, but I imagine there are better ways to catch somebody's attention.

We know ..... .it is just that what the engineering behind it is. Now you should look up the Chrysler engine in the Sherman tanks.

That is this guys plans but after reading the information on the v 12 web site , I am not certain I want to get involved. May just send him to those folks.

There's a company in FL (?) that sells them in just about any condition that one could desire.

Not cheap.

Dean

I remember looking up tanks and power units for them, then there is the Tiger and Tiger2, 1302 cube v 12, that must be an impressive engine! Lol

Dean that is the same as the company in Indiana, they have anything one wants but pricey for sure. Seems there is more interest out there than I ever thought of. This all came up when the guy came by and saw a running v 6 version of that engine I have. He did a little research and decided he wanted the V12 version. We will just see how it plays out. One thing for sure if he decides , he certainly has the funds to do whatever he wants.
