Would love to take that thing for a test drive or enter it into the local tractor pulling contest.
 
They used to have one at a tractor show in our area, not MRS, with a 671 detroit(Euclid maybe). They had a stoneboat for the pull
and it would run away with it, probably because the hitch was so high it lifted the front of the stoneboat.
 
Did a little research, MRS airport tug, they used IH power plants in them at time they had several sizes. Also used Cummins and Detroits.
 
MRS = Mississippi Road Supply. They were built in the late 1940's early 1950s , mostly for road construction projects to pull pan scrapewrs. Those massive rear
fenders are hollow tanks that you could fill with water for weight.
 
Interesting about the fenders. I'd imagine they were effective... but they sure are homely looking.
