Tractor , which was the first with a foot throttle or

I don't know when Case put a foot throttle on their tractors but I have one on the 1963 model 730 and it is something I use all the time when pushing snow or dirt with the tractor. Same on the JD 2140. Every tractor should have one.

First tractor I ever saw with a foot throttle was a 4010 JD. thought it was the best.I'm sure there others much earlier.

A John Deere " H" had a foot throttle to over ride the regular throttle for road travel.
We have a Case VAC that is about a 1943 model that has a factory installed foot throttle. oleclint

Case V/VC had them in 1940,, before that CI LI had them if equipped with foot clutch which most Industrial units were ordered with that was started in 1929 Case has always been into Industrial equipment since the steam engine days

Never had a foot throttle and would not want one, probly take it off if posible. When I bought last hydro garden tractor I made sure it was not foot control but hand control. In factory setup on smooth concrete floor foot might be ok but not on rough ground.

(quoted from post at 22:43:03 01/18/20) What was the first wheeled tractor with a foot throttle ? What was the first wheeled tractor with a de-accelerator ?

My 1948 CASE VAC has a foot feed; VERY handy!

Leroy you don't know how nice they are in certain applications , why would you be so set in your ways that you would have to take it off , they would still have a hand throttle also .

If there is a foot throttle, there is still the regular friction set hand throttle.

Removing a foot throttle would be kin to removing a radio from a car cause you didn't want to listen to it instead of just leaving it turned off.....

I had an Uncle who was that way. When doing loader work he would set the hand throttle on the 1640 then slip the clutch as required.
The differential lock handle was also seized in place. Instead he stepped on the brake pedal if a tire was slipping.

The number of times I hit the foot throttle on a tractor in a years time could be counted on one hand. Back in the day I had a hired man that I called Joe Rev, he loved to get on a machine and "goose" the foot throttle, especially when they were cold. I took the foot throttle linkage off the manure spreader tractor, the one he used the most.

Interesting the difference, I'm the opposite. Foot throttle rules for road work, loader work and about odd jobs, use hand throttle for some PTO and tillage work.

What I have seen pictures of they are just in the correct place for in trying to get off tractor to catch your foot on and make you fall off the tractor on to your face. I don't like catching on anything and falling down. If it was not for that I might just leave it on but in my 76 years have never found any time it would have been handy.
